My name is Ryan Weber, Executive Vice President of Experience. I want to extend a warm welcome to our newest members. We are so eager to have you join one of the best communities out there. As we prepare for the upcoming traditional American Thanksgiving, I want to express my gratitude for each of you. VirtualUA, Inc. is thankful for our incredible community, and we wouldn’t be who we are without your support. Just a quick reminder that we ask if you cannot file your monthly requirements, please reach out to Member & Staff Relations at [email protected]. You can always file a Leave of Absence (LOA) if you are unable to fly. Beginning in January, we will be reassessing our Volunteer Staff openings; if you are interested, we would like to chat with you. That’s all for now; please continue to be safe and follow CDC guidelines.

VirtualUA, Inc. is thrilled to announce our annual Fall event, Fall Foliage. The event will take place on October 18 at 1800z. Our route will take us from Washington Dulles (KIAD) to our final destination of Portsmouth International Airport (KPSM). We want to thank REX Simulations, FlightBeam, and Sky Blue Radio for their continued support at VirtualUA. We could not have achieved the level of success without their help! We, as a community, look forward to supporting them throughout the coming years.
REX Simulations and FlightBeam have graciously sponsored the event by donating some awesome prizes for pilots to win. To participate, you must be a pilot on our roster and RSVP by clicking here: http://bit.ly/fall2020event.
In addition to the prizes, our friends at Vatsim will be providing everyone ATC from gate to gate. This event is shaping up to be a great one. We look forward to sharing the friendly skies with everyone this Oct 18!
I want to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support. This year we have accomplished so much, and it wouldn’t be possible without you. We separated from AAV Group and rebranded as VirtualUA Incorporated as a 501c3 Non Profit organization. Became SkyBlue Radio Virtual Airline of the year, we also released our new website name ATMOS, VirtualUA nextGEN Pilot Center, and we are continuously working on improving it. We hosted the first-ever virtual party on our Discord Server for the MSFS2020 release. We are committed to continually improving our services and programs and welcoming your ideas and suggestions. Our next upcoming event, Fall Foliage, is in its final preparations. The event will take place on October 18th, and we’re headed to the northeast to taste the fall season! On behalf of my staff team, I would like to thank you for your support and participation in our great community!

From your Operations Department, here is our September update. As you can see here are our flight statistics for the month. KSFO is leading the way with KORD in a close second. With a few more days left in the month, let’s see who the top hub of the month is.
Avg Per Day:
In case you have not seen, we have two new Regional Hub Directors. For the Hubs: KSFO, KDEN, KIAH, and KLAX is William Beaumont and for KEWR, KORD, KIAD, and PGUM is Eddie Goff. They are there to ensure all pilots are taken care of and to make your experience at VirtualUA a fun one. I know we have a bunch of new pilots who have joined and we want to welcome you to the VirtualUA family. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to us so we can start you off on the right path.
Also, We have been reviewing and revising the Pilot Handbook and once released there are a few items to note. In the handbook, there are certain criteria for PIREPS to be accepted as a completed flight. In the past, and due to changes in technology and staff, we have been lenient with the PIREPS. Once the Pilot Handbook has been released The Operations Department will be reviewing and providing feedback based on the information received. If you find you are having troubles in certain areas that are the minimum standard, please reach out to our training department who can help.
As always without you as the pilots we would not be the success we are today. Thank you and safe flights! — Respectfully, Chris Porras
VirtualUA has been in operation for almost a decade. We have created a platform where we have adapted to the changing flight sim world. We’ve branched out and engaged with our pilots both virtually and with local events. Most recently, we participated in Flight Sim Expo and before that Flight Sim Con. We continue to develop pilot-friendly technology platforms and continually take feedback and implement it in our policies and technology. What sets us apart from the rest and what is most important is our people. Without our member base and staff team, we wouldn’t be where we are today. Thank you to those of you that have continued to support us through the years. We couldn’t do it without you.
VirtualUA, Inc is a proud partner of the VATSIM online flying network. VATSIM offers an additional level of realism providing virtual Air Traffic Control around the world while also displaying other virtual pilots in the sky. VirtualUA is an Authorized Training Organization and can provide pilot training to our VA members. We offer a Private Pilot course, which, when completed, awards the pilot the P1 rating on VATSIM. VATSIM is an exceptional community to belong to, and it’s free! Visit vatsim.net for more information!
As we complete our transition over to ATMOS, the Member and Staff Relations department will be releasing a new version of our member handbook in the upcoming weeks.
The changes you will see will consist of our new aircraft program, removing the pilot ranking structure, leave of absence (LOAs), etc. September 1, 2020, we will start enforcing the minimum flight requirements per month. Failure to meet the minimum flight requirement will result in removal from the active roster. To avoid being removed from the roster, members are required to be active for 60 days before eligible for a leave of absence (LOA). For certain situations that may arise, we will work with you to ensure you remain a member of VirtualUA. PIREP’s that have landing rates over -650fpm will result in rejection. If you need help with improving your landings, you can contact our training department.
For members who would like to contribute to our organization, we do offer several volunteer positions.

Back in July we kicked off our Group Flight Program. Pilots are now able to communicate with each other on our Discord Server and coordinate group flights. We are thrilled that this has been a success, and we will continue to encourage our community to participate in group flying. We want to Congratulate our July Winners for our Monthly Screenshot competition. The August competition has kicked off, so head over to our Discord Server and post your favorite screenshot. If you win we will send you some award points and post your screenshot on our social media platforms to recognize your talent. Happy Screenshotting! Finally, we’re happy to announce our monthly Feedback Program. During the 2nd quarter Fireside Chat, we announced that we would launch this program starting in September. Watch your emails for more information in the coming weeks. We love to hear your suggestions and feedback as we only continue to develop for you — our members! Our staff team works extremely hard behind the scenes for our community and we hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
