Even with all the chaos 2020 has presented us with, there is still a lot to be thankful for this Thanksgiving. We’d even argue one of the greatest gifts this challenging year has given us was a new perspective on the things we’ve been taking for granted all this time! A new perspective on just how grateful we are for the simplest of things. The staff here at VirtualUA would like to wish you and your families a Happy Thanksgiving. We know you have many virtual airline choices, and we are very thankful you have chosen us. Have a safe and healthy holiday season!

I want to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support. This year we have accomplished so much, and it wouldn’t be possible without you. We separated from AAV Group and rebranded as VirtualUA Incorporated as a 501c3 Non Profit organization. Became SkyBlue Radio Virtual Airline of the year, we also released our new website name ATMOS, VirtualUA nextGEN Pilot Center, and we are continuously working on improving it. We hosted the first-ever virtual party on our Discord Server for the MSFS2020 release. We are committed to continually improving our services and programs and welcoming your ideas and suggestions. Our next upcoming event, Fall Foliage, is in its final preparations. The event will take place on October 18th, and we’re headed to the northeast to taste the fall season! On behalf of my staff team, I would like to thank you for your support and participation in our great community!

From your Operations Department, here is our September update. As you can see here are our flight statistics for the month. KSFO is leading the way with KORD in a close second. With a few more days left in the month, let’s see who the top hub of the month is.
Avg Per Day:
In case you have not seen, we have two new Regional Hub Directors. For the Hubs: KSFO, KDEN, KIAH, and KLAX is William Beaumont and for KEWR, KORD, KIAD, and PGUM is Eddie Goff. They are there to ensure all pilots are taken care of and to make your experience at VirtualUA a fun one. I know we have a bunch of new pilots who have joined and we want to welcome you to the VirtualUA family. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to us so we can start you off on the right path.
Also, We have been reviewing and revising the Pilot Handbook and once released there are a few items to note. In the handbook, there are certain criteria for PIREPS to be accepted as a completed flight. In the past, and due to changes in technology and staff, we have been lenient with the PIREPS. Once the Pilot Handbook has been released The Operations Department will be reviewing and providing feedback based on the information received. If you find you are having troubles in certain areas that are the minimum standard, please reach out to our training department who can help.
As always without you as the pilots we would not be the success we are today. Thank you and safe flights! — Respectfully, Chris Porras
VirtualUA has been in operation for almost a decade. We have created a platform where we have adapted to the changing flight sim world. We’ve branched out and engaged with our pilots both virtually and with local events. Most recently, we participated in Flight Sim Expo and before that Flight Sim Con. We continue to develop pilot-friendly technology platforms and continually take feedback and implement it in our policies and technology. What sets us apart from the rest and what is most important is our people. Without our member base and staff team, we wouldn’t be where we are today. Thank you to those of you that have continued to support us through the years. We couldn’t do it without you.
VirtualUA, Inc is a proud partner of the VATSIM online flying network. VATSIM offers an additional level of realism providing virtual Air Traffic Control around the world while also displaying other virtual pilots in the sky. VirtualUA is an Authorized Training Organization and can provide pilot training to our VA members. We offer a Private Pilot course, which, when completed, awards the pilot the P1 rating on VATSIM. VATSIM is an exceptional community to belong to, and it’s free! Visit vatsim.net for more information!
As we complete our transition over to ATMOS, the Member and Staff Relations department will be releasing a new version of our member handbook in the upcoming weeks.
The changes you will see will consist of our new aircraft program, removing the pilot ranking structure, leave of absence (LOAs), etc. September 1, 2020, we will start enforcing the minimum flight requirements per month. Failure to meet the minimum flight requirement will result in removal from the active roster. To avoid being removed from the roster, members are required to be active for 60 days before eligible for a leave of absence (LOA). For certain situations that may arise, we will work with you to ensure you remain a member of VirtualUA. PIREP’s that have landing rates over -650fpm will result in rejection. If you need help with improving your landings, you can contact our training department.
For members who would like to contribute to our organization, we do offer several volunteer positions.
