VirtualUA, Inc. is thrilled to announce our annual Holiday event, Home for the Holidays. The event will take place on December 12 at 2200z. Our route will take us from Winnipeg James Armstrong Richardson International Airport (CYWG) to our final destination of Chicago O’hare International Airport (KORD).
We want to thank REX Simulations, Hifi Simulation Technologies, ORBX Simulations Systems, Flightbeam Studios, FS2CREW, Just Flight, Aerosoft, and Flight1 for their continued support of our community here at VirtualUA, Inc. We could not have achieved the level of success we are now without their help! We, as a community, look forward to supporting them throughout the coming years.
We also want to thank Skyblue Radio for helping us get the word out; we appreciate their continuously committed to our community.
REX Simulations, Hifi Simulation Technologies, ORBX Simulations Systems, Flightbeam Studios, FS2CREW, Just Flight, Aerosoft, and Flight1 have graciously sponsored the event by donating some awesome prizes for pilots to win. To participate, you must be a pilot on our roster and RSVP by clicking here: https://bit.ly/vuaholidayevent20.
In addition to the prizes, our friends at Vatsim will be providing everyone with ATC from gate to gate. This event is shaping up to be a great one. We look forward to sharing the friendly skies with everyone this December 12! It’s time to start celebrating and counting down to 2 0 2 1!
VirtualUA, Inc is a proud partner of the VATSIM online flying network. VATSIM offers an additional level of realism providing virtual Air Traffic Control around the world while also displaying other virtual pilots in the sky. VirtualUA is an Authorized Training Organization and can provide pilot training to our VA members. We offer a Private Pilot course, which, when completed, awards the pilot the P1 rating on VATSIM. VATSIM is an exceptional community to belong to, and it’s free! Visit vatsim.net for more information!
As we complete our transition over to ATMOS, the Member and Staff Relations department will be releasing a new version of our member handbook in the upcoming weeks.
The changes you will see will consist of our new aircraft program, removing the pilot ranking structure, leave of absence (LOAs), etc. September 1, 2020, we will start enforcing the minimum flight requirements per month. Failure to meet the minimum flight requirement will result in removal from the active roster. To avoid being removed from the roster, members are required to be active for 60 days before eligible for a leave of absence (LOA). For certain situations that may arise, we will work with you to ensure you remain a member of VirtualUA. PIREP’s that have landing rates over -650fpm will result in rejection. If you need help with improving your landings, you can contact our training department.
For members who would like to contribute to our organization, we do offer several volunteer positions.

Back in July we kicked off our Group Flight Program. Pilots are now able to communicate with each other on our Discord Server and coordinate group flights. We are thrilled that this has been a success, and we will continue to encourage our community to participate in group flying. We want to Congratulate our July Winners for our Monthly Screenshot competition. The August competition has kicked off, so head over to our Discord Server and post your favorite screenshot. If you win we will send you some award points and post your screenshot on our social media platforms to recognize your talent. Happy Screenshotting! Finally, we’re happy to announce our monthly Feedback Program. During the 2nd quarter Fireside Chat, we announced that we would launch this program starting in September. Watch your emails for more information in the coming weeks. We love to hear your suggestions and feedback as we only continue to develop for you — our members! Our staff team works extremely hard behind the scenes for our community and we hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
We at VirtualUA, Inc. are thrilled to announce that we have been working on a new platform for planning your flights, tracking them, and logging them. This new platform will replace Skynet.
Our new platform Atmos will replace our current Skynet on the web. Atmos will be a ‘one-stop-shop’ for all of your needs. You will be able to manage your account, book flights, review your flight history, and see some of the statistics from all your past flights. Not only that, but it will also encompass our new support system. Whether you need assistance with Technology, Flight Operations, or any other department we have, you will be able to submit a ticket and receive assistance from the appropriate folks. Like any support system you may have used in the past, you will be able to view your requests’ status and any actions on it as well! Here below are some important notes as we transition on August 1 :
Systems will do down at 6 pm central time, Friday, July 31, 2020. Expected to be back up by 6 am central time on Saturday, August 1, 2020, however, could be sooner. At 6 pm central, all web services will go offline. Both ACARS systems will still be accessible; however, if you try to file a PIREP or anything, there will be an error, and it WILL NOT go through. Users will need to file a manual PIREP once Atmos is online.
SKYNET and SKYLINK will sunset
Smartcars will become our primary Flight Tracker, more information will soon be released with our new Custom ACARS
Users will receive an email with their new pilot ID once systems are back up.
Discord, email, blog, and ccs will remain online at all times during the system cutover.
After the cutover, ALL users (except staff) will lose their discord permissions. They will need to login to Atmos and link their Discord account to get their permissions back.
On the new SmartCARS, it will only show flights you have booked that are departing from your current airport. So if you see no flights, you may need to jumpseat.
Updates will be sent out throughout the migration process using Discord.
Once again, we appreciate all your patience during this transition. We couldn’t do it without the support of our community. This is just a beginning as we continue to move Virtual Aviation forward. Blue Skies!
We at VirtualUA, Inc. are thrilled to announce that we have been working on a new platform for planning your flights, tracking them, and logging them. This new platform will replace Skynet. We will be releasing more information very soon, and we appreciate your patience.
VirtualUA is hard at work preparing our new training program. This new program will outline the new VATSIM training program which is realigned with the current FAA structure of pilot ratings. With hopes of releasing in early fall, be on the lookout for announcements in the near future. In the mean time, the current program is still open for P1 applicants at training.virtualua.org so sign up today!
We’re so excited to see that Microsoft has officially announced the release of the much awaited Flight Simulator 2020. The release date is August 18th. We are so excited that Microsoft is back to creating content for the community however, we will always continue to support existing platforms like X-Plane, P3D, FSX with our ACARS as long as members continue to use those platforms. We are so excited to see what this new simulator brings in hopes it rejuvenates the flight simulation industry and attracts new people to our beloved hobby.
I’m sure many of you are wanting to know what this means for our community. We don’t expect there to be any sort of ACARS system that will work for MSFS out of the gate. Since it is a new development we are creating a game plan to figure out a way for pilots to submit their flight reports with VirtualUA. Once we have more information we will send out another communication with information.
Like always thank you so much for being apart of our community. We couldn’t do what we do without your dedication and commitment.

Sun N Fun is just around the corner; let’s update you on some things regarding the event. You MUST RSVP for this event since the gate space is limited. If you plan on attending Please, use this link to RSVP—https://bit.ly/funsun20 . Due to the size of the airports that we will be flying in and out of. We have put special procedures in place to prevent holding and delays. Your Route will be provided by our operations team approximately 1 hour before the first departure. Before the event begins, Pilots will be assigned a pushback slot spaced 15 minutes apart to provide additional sequencing. Missed pushback slots will move you to the back of the departure time table. Your callsign will be provided to you by the operations team. It is mandatory that you use this callsign for all the legs of the event. To prevent gate congestion at these smaller airports, you may notconnect to VATSIM more than 25 minutes before your scheduled pushback slot to relieve congestion. We recommend to plan your fuel accordingly and bring some extra fuel onboard because missed approaches are expected at these airports! When choosing aircraft, please keep in mind the environment!
From all of us at VirtualUA, We hope to see you there!
