AVRP and Much More

Hello VirtualUA Community,

Now that the holidays are behind us, we can now move forward with exciting developments here at VirtualUA. We want to inform you about a few new launches for the community. First, VirtualUA’s new Loyalty Program is here. You can now start tracking your AVRP (Altitude Virtual Reward Program) quarterly status via ATMOS. You can learn more about this great program here: https://avrp.virtualua.org/. Here are a few reminders; your status changes quarterly, your benefits get better as you fly more, manual PIREP’s do not receive Flight credit towards your AVRP Status, but you receive points. Once you level up, you will receive an email from the system and benefits such as Jumpseat passes. Our next AVRP project later this year will be releasing a Virtual Pilot Shop, where you can purchase virtual items with your points.

Next, we are introducing our New PIREP Auto Acceptance System. The Automatic PIREP acceptance system will check the landing rate and route to ensure policy compliance. It will also check the flight log for in-flight refueling, diversion from planned arrival, slew mode usage, and simulation rate changes. If it detects any of those things out of compliance, the PIREP will be “held for review,” and a staff member will have to review the PIREP manually. If it does not detect any of these things, the PIREP will automatically be accepted. Please, Please, Please don’t forget your “route”; this will cause your PIREP to be rejected. Lately, we have allowed this to slide, but PIREP will be rejected according to the policy from now on.

As you know, our Program Free for the 2020 holiday season has expired; we hope you had the opportunity to get those hours in during that time. Occasionally during the year, we will have other Program Free options. Our Staff Team will be meeting this week to discuss Staff opportunities for those interested in joining our team; please watch out for the next Boarding Pass with more information. Later this month, we will be refreshing our Flight Schedules. We appreciate your patience during this process and thank you for being a part of VirtualUA. Happy Flying!

Happy New Year

Dear VirtualUA Community,

Happy New Year! I hope that you continue to enjoy a safe and relaxing holiday with your loved ones. I want to take this opportunity to send a sincere “thank you.” The year 2020 has been a challenging one for the world, but here at VirtualUA, it has been filled with incredible growth and evolution, and I have never been so excited about the future. We will continue to push forward with new ideas, improvements, and a dedication to providing the best member experience possible.

As we bridge into 2021, we will initiate Project 21, VirtualUA’s Flight Plan for development. You can follow our 2021 progress on our dedicated website (https://21.virtualua.org/). Here soon, we will be refreshing our flight schedules, updating ATMOS, releasing our own custom ACARS Client, and much more. To that end, we accomplish a lot from 2020; we rebranded VirtualUA, which became a new 501c3 Non-Profit Charitable organization, launch ATMOS 1.0, hosted many community events including Fireside Chats, gave out over $1,000 worth of prizes to our members, and much more.

What a great year, and we’re looking forward to 2021. Tomorrow we launch our newest Loyalty Program, name Altitude Virtual Rewards Program (https://avrp.virtualua.org/). Our Technology team will be updating ATMOS, where you will track your quarterly Status progress and benefits. We hope you like the latest addition to the community. On behalf of everyone at VirtualUA, Inc., I thank you for your engagement, feedback, and loyalty. I wish you a Happy New Year filled with happiness and good fortune.

Regards,

REX Weather Force 2020 Review

REX Game Studios released their first new product for Microsoft Flight Simulator, called Weather Force. Weather Force is a metar-based dynamic weather engine that extracts metars from NOAA and provides accurate results within 1/8th mile, providing the most realistic weather in the simulator.

When unboxing Weather Force, I expected it to be similar to the setup and layout of products on the Prepar3D platform. Before starting the installation, antivirus software should be off to prevent any false flags. After the installation is complete, give the Weather Force folder exclusions rights with the antivirus software. Once this is complete, you turn on the antivirus software. When opening Weather Force for the first time, fill out the required information to activate the product, which is very straightforward. Weather Force offers Live Weather, Dynamic Changing Weather Scenario (DCWS), and search for weather conditions that you prefer worldwide. The settings section allows users to adjust the weather updates within Microsoft Flight Simulator and the transition rate when it will change the weather. One cool feature is that the user can also create a favorite airport list, which will provide the latest weather conditions to each airport. When setting up for a flight, the user needs to have clear skies selected within Microsoft Flight Simulator. Once the simulator is loaded up and in the aircraft, click weather synthesis. Weather Force will start injecting the current weather at the aircraft’s location. It will take a few seconds to inject it into the simulator, once inject you will notice the difference.

Overall, I am pleased with Weather Force and strongly recommend it for anyone trying to add realism to flight simulation. REX Game Studios is constantly updating Weather Force and adding new features such as historical weather data, presets, and more! Fantastic Job, REX!
