Flightsim Expo 2021

Dear Flight Simulation Community,

We at VirtualUA, Inc. are thrilled to announce our attendance at FlightSimExpo 2021 in San Diego, California. It is an excellent opportunity to demonstrate our organization to the flight simulation community. Along with displaying our organization, we will be able to network with our sponsors and partners. We would not be where we are today if not for them.

Our President & CEO (Chief Executive Officer) Robby Sayles, Ryan Weber, Matthew Keane, and Cameron Leonard will be attending this year’s event. Finally, we are proud to announce we will be celebrating ten years in 2022; we will be hosting a live Fireside Chat on Saturday, September 25, during Expo. You can find how to join our FSExpo exclusively Fireside Chat via the Who Event App. This will be an in-person/online Fireside Chat. We will be discussing our 2022 Flight Plan, along with some innovative technology enhancements. Do not forget about our giveaway during Expo.

We are located at booth 304. Please stop by and say hi, as well as ask us any questions you may have!

HQHUB April Update

Hello Pilots,

I hope you are all doing well and are healthy. My name is Trevor DeLong, and I am the Managing director of Hub Operations here at VirtualUA. I oversee all of the day-to-day operations within Hub Operations (HQHUB). My job includes supporting our Regional Hub Operations directors with processing pilot reports and solving community relations and PIREP requirements, including rejected pilot reports in violation of our Pilot Handbook. A little background about me, I’m an inspired pilot like many of you; I currently hold the Private pilot license (PPL) and working on my instrument rating. I have been part of the VirtualUA family since 2018 as a pilot and a staff member since April of 2020. I enjoy communicating with each of you who are a part of our discord and running our monthly screenshot competition.

I want to introduce the Hub Operations Team members so you can become familiar with our staff members and get the most out of your VirtualUA experience. Our Regional Hub Operations Director East is Eddie Goff. Eddie is one of our most experienced members with over 7,500 flight hours and has been around since 2014. He oversees operations at our eastern hubs, including Chicago, Washington Dulles, Newark, and Houston. He’s online most hours of the day, either flying, processing pilot reports, staff meetings, etc. You can thank him for the quick approvals of pilot reports held by our system! With Eddie covering our eastern hubs, Steve Miller is handling our Western hubs! This includes Denver, Los Angeles, and San Francisco. Steve has more than 500 hours with us and has been a long-time member as well.

All of us here in the Hub Operations Department is committed to ensuring you have the best experience at VirtualUA. The Regional Hub Director for your hub should be your first contact if you have an issue with your flight reports or anything else. We welcome your comments and questions or if you want to chat.

I would also like to announce a few things are happening soon (May 2021) within our Hub Operations Department. First, I want to mention that we do a monthly screenshot competition on our discord server. The winner gets 10,000 AVRP points and a jump seat pass. The second thing that I want to announce is our new Top Pilot Program. Each month we will be rewarding our top 3 pilots by both flight hours and total flights, with 10,000 AVRP points and one jump seat pass. Thirdly, we will be reimplementing our Featured Destination each month. Monthly our Marketing Team will select a destination from the United route network, and pilots who make at least one flight to the destination chosen during the month will receive 5,000 AVRP points.

As we mentioned during the Fireside Chat, starting in May 2021, we will begin enforcing the Monthly flight requirement. Friendly reminder that each pilot must fly (1) PIREP monthly; if you are unable, please file an LOA with Member Relations (HQMRS). The 2nd Quarter AVRP status reset begins on April 1; we’re super excited about our 1st Quarter progress and want to thank all of our incredible pilots. On behalf of your HQHUB team, I want to thank you for being a part of our strong and growing community, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. If you haven’t, please join our Discord server through ATMOS. Again, please feel free to reach out to any of us here in the HQHUB-Hub Operations Department.

New AVRP Update

We’re almost ending VirtualUA Altitude Virtual Rewards Program (AVRP) 2021 1st quarter. This means on April 1, all member’s status will reset as regular members. Please be advised due to member feedback; we will adjust all four tiers starting the 2nd Quarter. AVRP Tier’s will be the following:

Silver: 9 (Current) to 15 (New)

Gold 15 (Current ) to 25 (New)

Platinum 21 (Current ) to 40 (New)

Diamond 30 (Current) to 60 (New)

Moving forward, we will continue to tweak the program to enhance our member experience. As mentioned during the 1st Quarter Fireside Chat, we’re always looking for feedback. We’re super excited about AVRP and all the awesome members. Did you know over 100 pilots during the First Quarter achieved at least Silver Status? With that been said, we’re pleased to announce our newest addition to AVRP, Virtual Aviator Club (VAC). We will be introducing Virtual Aviator Club (VAC) in 2022; this is an exclusive invitation only. To be considered, you would need to have achieved 2 out of 4 quarters of Diamond. This is a limited access Club, so not everyone will be invited. You will also need to participate in 80 % of our quarterly events, including Fireside Chats. Club Members will get a one-time-only VirtualUA printed T-shirt (U.S. Based members only), exclusive giveaways, an invitation to staff gatherings, open flying (charter system), and much more. We are thrilled about VAC and hope you’re as well. We want to thank all of our AVRP members and looking forward to the 2nd Quarter. Who will be our first status member for quarter 2?  We will be updating our terms and condition, which you review here: https://avrp.virtualua.org/.

New Brand Shop

VirtualUA, Inc. is pleased to announce our VUA Brand Shop, VirtualUA’s HQMKT (Marketing and Innovation) Team, has been working behind the scenes to make this happen. We have partnered up with Teespring, Inc. to make this happen. After evaluating community feedback, we decided to launch our Brand shop, allowing pilots to purchase VirtualUA brand merchandise. This also will enable pilots to support VirtualUA, which proceeds from the Brand Shop helps with our Technology mission, such as server costs and regularly updated routes. We will periodically update items, such as seasonal gear and much more. This is a wonderful way to support VirtualUA, Inc. We’re always looking for ways to enhance our member experience better and are excited about this fantastic addition to our community. You can check the New Brand Shop here: https://bit.ly/vuashop

New Schedules Released

Hello Everyone,

We’re halfway through January and loving our 2021 momentum. Did you know we’re 1000 flights away from achieving 100,000 flights? Who will be the one that completes the 100,000 flight? Isn’t that amazing? As we start our 9th year of service, we already see incredible results. But this is because of you, OUR community. We wouldn’t be successful without our “active” community that calls VirtualUA, Inc., their home away from home.

Moving on to other great news, we refreshed our schedules today. We will continue to update them regularly with the real world United Flight Schedules. VirtualUA, Inc will be recruiting new volunteer staff members. We will be kicking off a new round of staff members across the board. Do you have some spare time in your busy schedule to help move VirtualUA forward? If so, we would like to have a chat with you.

We’re looking for “serious” members to come aboard to help out with the many tasks to keep us moving forward. It will be another busy year for us, and we hope to recruit the best. Look out for more information soon. Have a superior week, and we thank you for being a part of our community.

AVRP and Much More

Hello VirtualUA Community,

Now that the holidays are behind us, we can now move forward with exciting developments here at VirtualUA. We want to inform you about a few new launches for the community. First, VirtualUA’s new Loyalty Program is here. You can now start tracking your AVRP (Altitude Virtual Reward Program) quarterly status via ATMOS. You can learn more about this great program here: https://avrp.virtualua.org/. Here are a few reminders; your status changes quarterly, your benefits get better as you fly more, manual PIREP’s do not receive Flight credit towards your AVRP Status, but you receive points. Once you level up, you will receive an email from the system and benefits such as Jumpseat passes. Our next AVRP project later this year will be releasing a Virtual Pilot Shop, where you can purchase virtual items with your points.

Next, we are introducing our New PIREP Auto Acceptance System. The Automatic PIREP acceptance system will check the landing rate and route to ensure policy compliance. It will also check the flight log for in-flight refueling, diversion from planned arrival, slew mode usage, and simulation rate changes. If it detects any of those things out of compliance, the PIREP will be “held for review,” and a staff member will have to review the PIREP manually. If it does not detect any of these things, the PIREP will automatically be accepted. Please, Please, Please don’t forget your “route”; this will cause your PIREP to be rejected. Lately, we have allowed this to slide, but PIREP will be rejected according to the policy from now on.

As you know, our Program Free for the 2020 holiday season has expired; we hope you had the opportunity to get those hours in during that time. Occasionally during the year, we will have other Program Free options. Our Staff Team will be meeting this week to discuss Staff opportunities for those interested in joining our team; please watch out for the next Boarding Pass with more information. Later this month, we will be refreshing our Flight Schedules. We appreciate your patience during this process and thank you for being a part of VirtualUA. Happy Flying!

Happy New Year

Dear VirtualUA Community,

Happy New Year! I hope that you continue to enjoy a safe and relaxing holiday with your loved ones. I want to take this opportunity to send a sincere “thank you.” The year 2020 has been a challenging one for the world, but here at VirtualUA, it has been filled with incredible growth and evolution, and I have never been so excited about the future. We will continue to push forward with new ideas, improvements, and a dedication to providing the best member experience possible.

As we bridge into 2021, we will initiate Project 21, VirtualUA’s Flight Plan for development. You can follow our 2021 progress on our dedicated website (https://21.virtualua.org/). Here soon, we will be refreshing our flight schedules, updating ATMOS, releasing our own custom ACARS Client, and much more. To that end, we accomplish a lot from 2020; we rebranded VirtualUA, which became a new 501c3 Non-Profit Charitable organization, launch ATMOS 1.0, hosted many community events including Fireside Chats, gave out over $1,000 worth of prizes to our members, and much more.

What a great year, and we’re looking forward to 2021. Tomorrow we launch our newest Loyalty Program, name Altitude Virtual Rewards Program (https://avrp.virtualua.org/). Our Technology team will be updating ATMOS, where you will track your quarterly Status progress and benefits. We hope you like the latest addition to the community. On behalf of everyone at VirtualUA, Inc., I thank you for your engagement, feedback, and loyalty. I wish you a Happy New Year filled with happiness and good fortune.

Regards,
