ATMOS is here!!!

We have completed the migration process; you are now able to login to ATMOS. You can access our nextGEN system here: atmos.virtualua.org. Please check your email, which provides some information such as your new Pilot ID and essential details regarding our new Aircraft Program. Also, don’t forget we have sunset Skylink, so you will need to download Smartcars, our current primary Flight tracker. The technology team will be online later today to answer any questions, for now, you can email them at [email protected] if you need technical support. This is the beginning of something amazing here at VirtualUA; we will adding more functionality to ATMOS as the time comes. We appreciate your patience and looking forward to a new chapter here at VirtualUA! Blue Skies!

Introducing VirtualUA Atmos

We at VirtualUA, Inc. are thrilled to announce that we have been working on a new platform for planning your flights, tracking them, and logging them. This new platform will replace Skynet.

Our new platform Atmos will replace our current Skynet on the web. Atmos will be a ‘one-stop-shop’ for all of your needs. You will be able to manage your account, book flights, review your flight history, and see some of the statistics from all your past flights. Not only that, but it will also encompass our new support system. Whether you need assistance with Technology, Flight Operations, or any other department we have, you will be able to submit a ticket and receive assistance from the appropriate folks. Like any support system you may have used in the past, you will be able to view your requests’ status and any actions on it as well! Here below are some important notes as we transition on August 1 :

  • Systems will do down at 6 pm central time, Friday, July 31, 2020. Expected to be back up by 6 am central time on Saturday, August 1, 2020, however, could be sooner. At 6 pm central, all web services will go offline. Both ACARS systems will still be accessible; however, if you try to file a PIREP or anything, there will be an error, and it WILL NOT go through. Users will need to file a manual PIREP once Atmos is online.
  • SKYNET and SKYLINK will sunset
  • Smartcars will become our primary Flight Tracker, more information will soon be released with our new Custom ACARS
  • Users will receive an email with their new pilot ID once systems are back up.
  • Discord, email, blog, and ccs will remain online at all times during the system cutover.
  • After the cutover, ALL users (except staff) will lose their discord permissions. They will need to login to Atmos and link their Discord account to get their permissions back.
  • On the new SmartCARS, it will only show flights you have booked that are departing from your current airport. So if you see no flights, you may need to jumpseat.
  • Updates will be sent out throughout the migration process using Discord.
  • If you encounter any issues, please email our Support Staff ([email protected]),

Once again, we appreciate all your patience during this transition. We couldn’t do it without the support of our community. This is just a beginning as we continue to move Virtual Aviation forward. Blue Skies!

Statement regarding MSFS 2020 release

VirtualUA Community,

We’re so excited to see that Microsoft has officially announced the release of the much awaited Flight Simulator 2020. The release date is August 18th. We are so excited that Microsoft is back to creating content for the community however, we will always continue to support existing platforms like X-Plane, P3D, FSX with our ACARS as long as members continue to use those platforms. We are so excited to see what this new simulator brings in hopes it rejuvenates the flight simulation industry and attracts new people to our beloved hobby.

I’m sure many of you are wanting to know what this means for our community. We don’t expect there to be any sort of ACARS system that will work for MSFS out of the gate. Since it is a new development we are creating a game plan to figure out a way for pilots to submit their flight reports with VirtualUA. Once we have more information we will send out another communication with information.

Like always thank you so much for being apart of our community. We couldn’t do what we do without your dedication and commitment.

VirtualUA Community Update | June 09

VirtualUA Community,

As we close the month of May, we couldn’t be more proud of our stats.  Our Washington Dulles Hub finished in first place with 161 flights for the month. Amazing results!  Congratulations to our IAD team for a job well done!

Did you know that we’re sunsetting VirtualUA’s Skylink when we launch our next GEN website? We decided back in April we will be using SmartCARS. We have partnered with TFDi Design for our newest Flight Tracker. We are still exploring future development for our signature ACARS program. There will be more information to follow. For now, we ask that you get familiar with SmartCARS. Last month, we announced that we had launched our community beta for our new upcoming website. The Community Team has been working with our Technology team and is making progress. We will update everyone once we receive information from the tech group.

By popular demand from our 2019 survey, we are continuing with our quarterly Virtual Firechats, and our next meet-up will take place on Friday, June 26, 2020. Mark your calendars. The meetup will start at 1900 CST on our Discord Server. Please come out and chat with our staff and other community members. We are giving out prizes to attendees. Speaking of surveys, starting in July, we will resume monthly community feedback and suggestions.

Our upcoming Fun ‘N Sun event is in its final preparations. The event will take place on July 25. We will be heading down to the Caribbean to do some island hopping! We need your help; please fill out this short survey and help us pick a Caribbean destination. We hope to see you in attendance.

VirtualUA is currently recruiting volunteer staff members for our entire Member Relations, Operations and Communications Team. If you are compassionate for flight simulation and nonprofit, we would like to have a chat with you. If you are interested, please email us at [email protected].  That’s all for this update, our next update will be on June 23.

Announcing VirtualUA, Inc.

Dear Flight Sim Community and Partners,

First, I hope that you’re staying safe and healthy with the current crisis that has swept the globe. It’s an incredibly difficult time for all of us, and please know that we’re all in this together. If you need anything, please let us know.

I wanted to take a moment and share some fascinating news with you regarding VirtualUA. We’re so excited to announce that with the New Year, we decided it was a good time to bring a facelift to our organization. With that being said, legally, you know us as Virtual United Social Club, Inc. however effective April 6th, 2020, Virtual United Social Club, Inc. has been dissolved, and VirtualUA, Inc. has been born.

VirtualUA, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) status through the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). We are an educational organization within the State of Texas consisting of 7 board members: Robby Sayles (President), Ian Jacobson, Austin Thieman, Shelton McCallop (Secretary), Matt Keane (Treasurer), Derek George and Ryan Weber. While our training programs are currently still being developed, we will partner with VATSIM to obtain our Authorized Training Organization (ATO) status as we’ve done in the past. We will have more information to share on this in the coming weeks.

With our new non-profit, we have also decided to change our branding to reflect our new name, culture, and values. Our goal was to develop something more modern while holding true to our roots in virtual aviation and the airline we simulate. In the coming days, you will see our new branding reflected on our website, social media channels, communications, and servers. This is an incredibly exciting time for all of us. As a staff team we have been anxiously waiting to share this information with you, and so glad that the time has finally come.

As we continue into 2020, it’s no doubt that there are challenges ahead. We will continue to do what we do best — supporting each other and making sure our hobby remains enjoyable. We are confident we will be able to deliver a world-class product to you – our community. With a new website about to enter Alpha testing, SmartCARS released and our new brand identity, 2020, is shaping out to be very exciting for our organization.

Please join us in celebrating a new identity as VirtualUA, Inc.

Kindest Regards,

VirtualUA Management Team
