VirtualUA has been in operation for almost a decade. We have created a platform where we have adapted to the changing flight sim world. We’ve branched out and engaged with our pilots both virtually and with local events. Most recently, we participated in Flight Sim Expo and before that Flight Sim Con. We continue to develop pilot-friendly technology platforms and continually take feedback and implement it in our policies and technology. What sets us apart from the rest and what is most important is our people. Without our member base and staff team, we wouldn’t be where we are today. Thank you to those of you that have continued to support us through the years. We couldn’t do it without you.
VirtualUA, Inc is a proud partner of the VATSIM online flying network. VATSIM offers an additional level of realism providing virtual Air Traffic Control around the world while also displaying other virtual pilots in the sky. VirtualUA is an Authorized Training Organization and can provide pilot training to our VA members. We offer a Private Pilot course, which, when completed, awards the pilot the P1 rating on VATSIM. VATSIM is an exceptional community to belong to, and it’s free! Visit vatsim.net for more information!
As we complete our transition over to ATMOS, the Member and Staff Relations department will be releasing a new version of our member handbook in the upcoming weeks.
The changes you will see will consist of our new aircraft program, removing the pilot ranking structure, leave of absence (LOAs), etc. September 1, 2020, we will start enforcing the minimum flight requirements per month. Failure to meet the minimum flight requirement will result in removal from the active roster. To avoid being removed from the roster, members are required to be active for 60 days before eligible for a leave of absence (LOA). For certain situations that may arise, we will work with you to ensure you remain a member of VirtualUA. PIREP’s that have landing rates over -650fpm will result in rejection. If you need help with improving your landings, you can contact our training department.
For members who would like to contribute to our organization, we do offer several volunteer positions.
- Communications – Social Media Manager
- Events Manager
- Hub Operations Regional Director
- Member Relations Manager
- Technical Support Director
- Training Operations Manager

We have completed the migration process; you are now able to login to ATMOS. You can access our nextGEN system here: atmos.virtualua.org. Please check your email, which provides some information such as your new Pilot ID and essential details regarding our new Aircraft Program. Also, don’t forget we have sunset Skylink, so you will need to download Smartcars, our current primary Flight tracker. The technology team will be online later today to answer any questions, for now, you can email them at [email protected] if you need technical support. This is the beginning of something amazing here at VirtualUA; we will adding more functionality to ATMOS as the time comes. We appreciate your patience and looking forward to a new chapter here at VirtualUA! Blue Skies!
The VirtualUA Operations Department has been hard at work to make the flying experience more enjoyable for each pilot. We just concluded our major summer event, Fun in the Sun where pilots started their flights at Princess Juliana Airport, St. Maarten (TNCM), flew a short hop to San Juan, Puerto Rico (TJSJ), and concluded their flights at Kingston, Jamaica (MJKP). We had a good showing with 10 pilots participating in the event, which allowed everyone to enjoy an element of comradery between VirtualUA Staff and Pilots. We in the Operations staff look forward to our upcoming events where we can work to provide a more realistic experience for everyone.
On the flight operations side, we have 10 new pilots joining us giving VirtualUA 178 total pilots.. We would like to extend a Welcome to VIrtualUA to everyone who joined during the month of July and wish everyone clear blue skies.
For the month of July. We have flown over 413 flights for the month of July. Of course we have a new hub accelerating ahead of the pack. KORD is leading the way followed by KIAD hub then KSFO hub as the top 3. Below is a snapshot of the flights for the month of July:
Looking toward the future, your Operations Department will be working behind the scenes to make each pilot’s experience more enjoyable. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to Executive VP Operations Derek George or Hub Operations Regional Director Chris Porras for any questions, concerns, or even suggestions on how we can make our virtual airline maintain the top tier status we have garnered. As always for up to date information, make sure you follow our discord.
We at VirtualUA, Inc. are thrilled to announce that we have been working on a new platform for planning your flights, tracking them, and logging them. This new platform will replace Skynet. We will be releasing more information very soon, and we appreciate your patience.
VirtualUA is hard at work preparing our new training program. This new program will outline the new VATSIM training program which is realigned with the current FAA structure of pilot ratings. With hopes of releasing in early fall, be on the lookout for announcements in the near future. In the mean time, the current program is still open for P1 applicants at training.virtualua.org so sign up today!
Vice President, Training
We’re so excited to see that Microsoft has officially announced the release of the much awaited Flight Simulator 2020. The release date is August 18th. We are so excited that Microsoft is back to creating content for the community however, we will always continue to support existing platforms like X-Plane, P3D, FSX with our ACARS as long as members continue to use those platforms. We are so excited to see what this new simulator brings in hopes it rejuvenates the flight simulation industry and attracts new people to our beloved hobby.
I’m sure many of you are wanting to know what this means for our community. We don’t expect there to be any sort of ACARS system that will work for MSFS out of the gate. Since it is a new development we are creating a game plan to figure out a way for pilots to submit their flight reports with VirtualUA. Once we have more information we will send out another communication with information.
Like always thank you so much for being apart of our community. We couldn’t do what we do without your dedication and commitment.
