Hiring Staff Members

We’re hiring additional staff members to come to join the team. We are desperately in need of a few volunteers to be part of the team. We’re hiring in our Hub Operations, Member Relations, Marketing, and Technology Team. For VirtualUA to run efficiently, we rely heavily on our staff members to work together to achieve our missions. Without staff members, it’s incredibly challenging to do daily tasks. We are actively recruiting staff members; please consider joining us if you have some spare time and are dependable. Maybe you don’t have time, but perhaps you know of someone? Please let us know; we love recommendations and referrals. Please visit our Career page here: http://bit.ly/vuastaffcareers.

VirtualUA Talks FSExpo 2021

Dallas, TX., October 08, 2021 — It’s been two weeks after the 2021 Flight Sim Expo; the team here at VirtualUA would like to thank everyone for stopping by our booth. Can you believe we talked with hundreds of aviation enthusiasts that were intrigued about our hobby? Fascinating, huh? Many were hoping that Microsoft Flight Simulator would have been in attendance; however, they were unable to participate due to time conflicts.

On a bright note, we did meet one of their Community Managers; we hope to continue to engage with Microsoft in the future. With that been said, not having MSFS present left us at VirtualUA with more traffic, which we answered quite a few questions about the hobby and the new flight simulator.

After arriving on Thursday, September 23, we had the opportunity to do some team-building functions and attend a special FSExpo Partners Meetup, where we met many of the exhibitors. Throughout the weekend, the VirtualUA team had 1:1 opportunities to engage with developers such as Xplane, Prepar3d, Honeycomb, Thrustmaster, TFDi Design, Turtle Beach, and Orbx. What a great way to collaborate with them on some brilliant upcoming releases and great dialogue.

Someone asked us why do VirtualUA participates in these kinds of events. It’s pretty simple: we advocate for the millions of flight sim enthusiasts, and we will continue to invest and engage with our community. That’s how we continue to move virtual aviation forward by participating and engaging with our community. It doesn’t matter if we are VirtualUA, Inc. or not; we are flight sim hobby enthusiasts like the rest of the millions in the hobby.

Our position is to continue participating and advocating for the remaining by having fun doing so. We hope to see everyone next year; what an honor and privilege to attend 2021 FSExpo, and we want to thank our community for supporting us and having great Sponsors and Partners. We certainly wouldn’t be able to pull this off without their continuous support.

VirtualUA, Inc. is a Texas based 501c3 nonprofit virtual aviation organization for simulation pilots to create a positive learning environment where enthusiasts can build their knowledge and understanding of aviation. During this process, VirtualUA, Inc.’s goal is to create an environment where learning these topics and building the knowledge and understanding in a fun and enjoyable way, allowing the simulation pilots to learn while experiencing and enjoying simulation and aviation. VirtualUA, Inc. hopes that this learning will empower and enable our pilots to experience a new real and virtual aviation level.

Message from Robby

Hello Community Members,

This is Robby, VirtualUA, Inc. President/Chief Executive Officer, with an update from me. As you noticed, you haven’t heard much from me since the beginning of the spring. Well, I step back to focus on some real-world obligations; now that I can return to the day-to-day operations, you will begin to see some changes soon.

During my absence, I made some career changes and am proud to announce that I’ve returned to Chicago and working back at United Airlines; doesn’t that sounds cool? You made have heard that VirtualUA, Inc. will be traveling to San Diego and representing our incredible community during the 2021 Flight Sim Expo. Your staff team is working to finalize our logistic plan, but we’re super excited to have that in-person connection with our members once again. We will be releasing more information soon to our community. If you have planning to be in San Diego, please stop by and say hello. AND—- VirtualUA will host our 3rd Quater Fireside Chat live from Expo; more on that soon!!

We will soon be recruiting for more staff members in our Hub Operations, Marketing, and Member Relations team; if you have some flexibility and time this upcoming fall and winter months, come and join us! One last thing before I let you go, Technology Operations will be updating our Routes/Schedule for the fall season so that you will see some changes soon.

That’s all from me; I want to express my gratitude to our AVRP members and say hello to our newcomers; I look forward to being more visible on Discord and always reach out to our team if you need us.

HQHUB April Update

Hello Pilots,

I hope you are all doing well and are healthy. My name is Trevor DeLong, and I am the Managing director of Hub Operations here at VirtualUA. I oversee all of the day-to-day operations within Hub Operations (HQHUB). My job includes supporting our Regional Hub Operations directors with processing pilot reports and solving community relations and PIREP requirements, including rejected pilot reports in violation of our Pilot Handbook. A little background about me, I’m an inspired pilot like many of you; I currently hold the Private pilot license (PPL) and working on my instrument rating. I have been part of the VirtualUA family since 2018 as a pilot and a staff member since April of 2020. I enjoy communicating with each of you who are a part of our discord and running our monthly screenshot competition.

I want to introduce the Hub Operations Team members so you can become familiar with our staff members and get the most out of your VirtualUA experience. Our Regional Hub Operations Director East is Eddie Goff. Eddie is one of our most experienced members with over 7,500 flight hours and has been around since 2014. He oversees operations at our eastern hubs, including Chicago, Washington Dulles, Newark, and Houston. He’s online most hours of the day, either flying, processing pilot reports, staff meetings, etc. You can thank him for the quick approvals of pilot reports held by our system! With Eddie covering our eastern hubs, Steve Miller is handling our Western hubs! This includes Denver, Los Angeles, and San Francisco. Steve has more than 500 hours with us and has been a long-time member as well.

All of us here in the Hub Operations Department is committed to ensuring you have the best experience at VirtualUA. The Regional Hub Director for your hub should be your first contact if you have an issue with your flight reports or anything else. We welcome your comments and questions or if you want to chat.

I would also like to announce a few things are happening soon (May 2021) within our Hub Operations Department. First, I want to mention that we do a monthly screenshot competition on our discord server. The winner gets 10,000 AVRP points and a jump seat pass. The second thing that I want to announce is our new Top Pilot Program. Each month we will be rewarding our top 3 pilots by both flight hours and total flights, with 10,000 AVRP points and one jump seat pass. Thirdly, we will be reimplementing our Featured Destination each month. Monthly our Marketing Team will select a destination from the United route network, and pilots who make at least one flight to the destination chosen during the month will receive 5,000 AVRP points.

As we mentioned during the Fireside Chat, starting in May 2021, we will begin enforcing the Monthly flight requirement. Friendly reminder that each pilot must fly (1) PIREP monthly; if you are unable, please file an LOA with Member Relations (HQMRS). The 2nd Quarter AVRP status reset begins on April 1; we’re super excited about our 1st Quarter progress and want to thank all of our incredible pilots. On behalf of your HQHUB team, I want to thank you for being a part of our strong and growing community, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. If you haven’t, please join our Discord server through ATMOS. Again, please feel free to reach out to any of us here in the HQHUB-Hub Operations Department.
